Concert Review: Taylor Swift's Reputation Tour

Taylor Swift brought her first ever all-stadium Reputation Tour to a sold out St. Louis crowd of all ages!

The lights went out and 48,000 Swifties lit up their LED bracelets that were handed out to everyone as a thank you from Taylor, because, in her words Tuesday night, “I want to see everyone’s faces” and reassured us that she does see us all, from the floor to the top of the stadium.

Taylor, who is nominated for 4 American Music Awards, kicked off her 2 hour show with her hit “Ready For It” from her current album, Reputation which flowed into a pyro/firework display in “Did Something Bad.”

Taylor then took a few minutes to speak about how many amazing, memorable times she’s had on and off the stage in St. Louis. She brought up having family in St. Louis and spending Thanksgiving here. At this point the crowd screamed to which Taylor replied laughing “that’s probably all my family screaming.” Again she said just how beautiful St. Louis is and that made a great segue into another Reputation hit “Gorgeous”, leading directly into a fantastic medley of her chart topping hits “Style/Love Story/You Belong With Me.”

And then there were the snakes: Huge inflatable snakes on the main stage and B-Stage 1, snakes on the tallest LED screens one can imagine & snake fixtures came out for “Look What You Made Me Do” with a special appearance by comedian/actress Tiffany Haddish answering the phone letting them know Taylor can’t come to the phone.

Things lit up golden with “End Game” and “King Of My Heart.” After "King Of My Heart", Taylor gave a very delicate pep talk about false reputation saying “When something happens to us in life where all of a sudden we have this awareness of other people and what they think of us and what they say about us. We all want something real; friendship, love, connection, we want people to accept us for who we are. And so that’s all the stuff that was kind of going through my head while I was writing this next song, just thinking about how “Delicate” it all is." We managed to score some video footage of this much-needed motivational speech and you can catch it below.

During "Delicate", Taylor gets into a lighted ball and floats across the left side over the crowd making her way to B-Stage 1 where she played 3 songs. The dance party with confetti raining down for “Shake It Off” begins with her dancers and opening acts Charli XCX & Camilla Cabella. Taylor then went into two acoustic songs “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” followed by the surprise song (which is different every night) “Hey Stephen” off her second album Fearless to which the crowd screamed in delight!

Taylor then made her way to B-Stage 2 walking through a barricade of fans on each side, touching the fans hands as they reach out hoping to get a once-in-a-lifetime high five from this exuberant woman.

B-Stage 2 songs included “Blank Space”and “Dress.” Before singing "Dress" Taylor looked at the crowd around her telling them how much she loves it that people are so creative making outfits that go along to song lyrics, song titles or even her clothes on stage, so she wanted to partake in it with them by singing "Dress" while wearing a dress.

Taylor then revisits the snake theme and belts out “Bad Blood” while floating back to the stage to keep the party going with a lead into “Should’ve Said No.”

I was really loving when she performed “Don’t Blame Me” as the stage felt like it was a huge warehouse with the band right in the middle of it.
Another personal fan connection happened when the Reputation piano came out and Taylor was telling us about people she meets in the meet and greets to where people told her they have listened to her since they were 8 years and now they’re adults saying “Music defines a phase of our life like a song can come on and you will be like oh my God that was my favorite song during this.” She said her music isn’t a phase! And just like that it was Taylor and 48,000 of her closest friends singing “Long Live/New Years Day.”

As the show was coming to end it was time to bring out the “Getaway Car” and shoot out the Taylor Reputation newspaper confetti that everyone was picking up in hand fulls for souvenirs on “Call It What You Want” while ending the show with a medley of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together/This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.”

As the show came to an end, Taylor waved to the audience, thanked them, told them she loved them and left the stage as this message appeared on the screens.....

“And in the death of her reputation,
she felt truly alive.”

She couldn't have said it better.
